Speech to the Seoul Metropolitan Council Delegation

Let me begin by thanking the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Urban, Planning and Management Committee and all members of the delegation, along with Mr President and Madam Speaker, Members of Parliament, distinguished guests.

I am honoured to have been asked to give the vote of thanks today on behalf of the NSW Parliament.

To start with, this is the second visit from the Seoul Municipal Council, which I have assisted in welcoming to Parliament since my election in 2011.

Madam Speaker I rise today in this House to acknowledge the significant and outstanding contribution of the Australian-Chinese community and to wish all a very Happy Chinese New Year.

2016 is the Year of the Monkey and represents a clever and thoughtful approach to life and its challenges.  I am proud to have been invited and involved in a large number of Lunar New Year celebrations across Sydney and in my electorate.

The Twentieth Anniversary of the Establishment of the First Coptic School in Sydney

Good evening and congratulations to the Coptic Orthodox Church on the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the first Coptic school in Sydney.

It is an absolute pleasure to be here representing the NSW Government and I would like to acknowledge His Grace Bishop Daniel and His Grace Bishop Paula along with teachers, parents and pupils of the schools present.

Of course, my warmest wishes to my parliamentary colleagues that are present this evening.
