Women In Football Pink Ribbon Gala Day

Today I discuss a very powerful event that I attended earlier this year - the St George Football Association and Peakhurst United Football Club "Women in Football: Pink Ribbon Gala Day".

The joint initiative between the two organisations was aimed at raising funds and awareness for women’s health. All money raised went to the Cancer Council to fund vital support services, prevention and research into breast cancer.

Beyond Duty Exhibition Launch

On the 3rd of February I had the great honour of attending the Beyond Duty Exhibition Launch here in Parliament House.

This exhibition paid tribute to the courage and humanitarianism of thirty-four diplomats, who have been designated as Righteous Among the Nations for their roles in saving 200,000 Jews during the Holocaust.

Organised by the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel, the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies and the Embassy of Israel, the display presented photos of the diplomats and their incredible efforts in saving thousands of Jews.

St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation

I acknowledge the St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation, which is a fantastic organisation that raises funds and awareness for the work of medical research in both St George Hospital and Sutherland Hospital.

The Foundation was established in 2007 after lobbies for an independent body to be created that would fund and promote the work of the research community within the Hospital.

Shortly after, the Scientific Advisory Committee was created and tasked with the role of selecting research projects and scholarships to be funded by the Foundation.
