People in the St George area receiving community mental health support will have access to more mental health programs thanks to a NSW Government grant secured by the Member for Oatley, Mark Coure MP.
Mr Coure today announced a grant of $5000 from the NSW Government for Jubilee Community Services to strengthen their Mental Health Programs. Jubilee Community Services offer mental health support to residents across the St George region.
The organisation offers art programs and free drop-in group on Thursdays with lunch provided, where locals can socialise with each other and speak to a case worker, with the aim of getting them more involved in the community and to be active citizens.
“The NSW Government is determined to enable members of our community to have access to the best community mental health services no matter where they live,” Mr Coure said.
“Since commencing in 2005, Jubilee Community Services’ mental health programs have given adults experiencing mental illness, greater access to and participation in quality arts and cultural development initiatives.”
The Programs provide mental health clients with various services and social interaction, including supporting clients with participating in art programs which provides pathways to employment and resume writing as well as social outings and peer support.
Jubilee Community Services’ General Manager Mr Lance Rickards said the program aims to provide support to those experiencing mental health issues within the local community.
“The provision of $5000 will enable Jubilee Community Services to continue to support and assist our mental health clients to seek additional pathways and accomplish their goals,” Mr Rickards said.
“Jubilee Community Services wishes to thank the NSW Government in assisting the organisation achieve our goal in supporting those in the community to obtain mental health support.”
