Member for Oatley, Mark Coure MP is delighted the NSW Government today lodged the initial planning application for the WestConnex motorway, after approving the business case showing the project will deliver major benefits for the NSW economy and the motorists of Sydney.

The NSW Government confirmed the $11.5 billion (2012 dollars) project will be built in three stages.

“This will finally fix the M5 East once and for all, which is a big win for the local area.”

"The motorway will boost freight efficiency, increase productivity, integrate transport along the corridor and shorten travel times to and from the city which is a big win I have achieved for the St George community.

"I am proud to be part of a team that is delivering major infrastructure projects for the local community" he said.

"The motorway will reduce travel times between King Georges Road to the city. The extension connects our communities and is a vital initial investment in our local economy.

“Less time on roads equates to more productive time, including that spent with family and friends. I am proud to be part of a government which is committed in the delivery of their promises”
