Mark Coure, Member for Oatley, attended the official opening of the new premises of the much-loved Blakehurst Vet.
Mr Coure toured the new premises with Chief Veterinarian Dr Hamish Bathgate, who has co-owned the business with his wife Holly since 2006.
Blakehurst Vet has moved to a larger premises on King Georges Road, Blakehurst, a short walk from their former premises on the Princes Highway.
Mr Coure viewed the new clinic spaces, operating theatre and spaces for dog and cat boarding.
“Hamish and all the staff at Blakehurst Vet are known for their top quality veterinary care and strong commitment to animal welfare,” Mr Coure said.
“It is great to see local small businesses like Blakehurst Vet being able to expand and thrive, contributing to the local economy and employing local people.”
Dr Bathgate said a great deal of teamwork went into ensuring the new premises benefited existing and new customers by providing a purpose-built veterinary facility with a welcoming environment, disability access and onsite parking.
“Our entire veterinary team worked through every detail of the new premises, from layout and equipment, right down to the location of the doggie treats. The focus was firmly on making a visit to our vet as stress free as possible. With so much thought and heart put into the building, we believe that together we’ve made a paw-some, special place for humans and their fur-kids,” Dr Bathgate said.
“We were thrilled to have Mark officially open our new premises. He’s a great supporter of local small businesses like ours and is always encouraging his constituents to shop local and support the community.”
