Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, is calling on residents of the St George community to talk to their GP and get vaccinated with 40 AstraZeneca providers now available locally.
These 40 providers are available across GPs, pharmacies and clinics including the brand new mass vaccination facility at the Marana Auditorium, Hurstville.
“The new walk-in mass vaccination facility is a game changer for the St George community and it will mean that our vaccine uptake will be fast-tracked across the region,” Mr Coure said.
“Our community has among the lowest vaccination rates across the State with just over a third of people having had one dose and roughly 19% who are fully vaccinated.”
“This is an issue which we must address and with 40 AstraZeneca providers and additional Pfizer providers as well, those who are wanting a vaccine should speak to their GP and come forward to receive their first dose.”
Mr Coure is also particularly focusing on getting young people vaccinated with both the AstraZeneca and the Pfizer vaccine now available for those over 18 years old.
“In the past seven days we have seen that the highest rates of infection are among those aged 20 to 29, accounting for roughly 400 positive cases in total across the State.”
“By getting young people vaccinated we can help lower rates of community transmission, protect our most vulnerable and look more positively on what life will look like in the weeks and months ahead.”
Additionally, Mr Coure is also calling for an increase in the number of pharmacy vaccination providers and mass vaccination facilities within the St George area.
“Local pharmacies play an important role in providing local residents with efficient access to a vaccine that is administered by a friendly face which they know they can trust.”
“I am also working with local organisations and NSW Health to work towards providing additional mass vaccination facilities in Riverwood and Mortdale and I am committed to doing everything that I can to make this happen.”
