Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey and Member for Oatley Mark Coure have announced funding to begin planning for the widening of King Georges Road.
Mrs Pavey said $2.9 million had been allocated in the 2017-18 State Budget to plan for the widening of King Georges Road between Stoney Creek Road and Connells Points Road.
“This work will help the flow of traffic and provide motorists with a smoother and faster journey,” Mrs Pavey said.
Member for Oatley Mark Coure said this work was vital to keep traffic moving along King Georges Road.
“This funding is most welcome and will provide major benefits to people moving across the city or heading just around the corner,” Mr Coure said.
“The section between Stoney Creek Road and Connells Point Road has the highest level of congestion in the A3 route with an above average crash rate.
“The funding is part of the NSW Government’s Gateway to South Pinch Points program and Major Infrastructure Established Sydney Roads to ease Sydney's congestion.”
